Gupta Ghat is a revered site in Faizabad near Ayodhya, situated on the banks of river Sarayu also known as the Ghaghra. This place has a lot of relevance as this place is said to be the site where the Hindu deity Lord Ram meditated and undertook the ‘Jal Samadhi’ in the river. Post this, he attained ‘Baikuntha’ from where he descended down from heaven as an avatar of Lord Vishnu. There are various ghats which were built by Raja Darshan Singh.

It is believed that taking a dip in the sarayu river will free them of their sins and the worries of worldly life. Among the various temples situated here, the Sita Ram temple, Chakrahari shrine and the Narsingh temple are the most popular ones.  One can also travel around and visit the Raja Mandir and Chakra Harji Vishnu temple which are located near the Guptar Ghat. Hymns are sung by priests and devotees in praise of Lord Rama day and night and make the place full of positive and devotional vibes.

Guptar Ghat is located at a distance of 10km from Ayodhya Railway Station and 5km from Faizabad Railway Station. The nearest airport is in Lucknow which is 135km away. Food and accommodation are a matter of no worry as there are various hotels and restaurants in the area. Renovated in the 1800s and constantly improvised by the UP Government, the Guptar Ghat is currently equipped with modern amenities as well and is an important tourist attraction for all.
